MISSING IN ACTION: Lote Tuqiri’s wretched run of injuries continued last Friday night when he broke his arm while making a tackle against the Bulldogs. His career could well be over, but the Tigers haven’t been caught too short on the flanks this weekend with premiership winger Matt Utai returning from injury in Lote’s place. Tim Moltzen also returns from injury at full-back, moving Beau Ryan back to the wing and relegating Joel Reddy to the bench. Most importantly, skipper Robbie Farah returns from concussion at hooker. Tom Humble and Masada Iosefa have both been dropped, while back-rower Adam Blair is out for a week through suspension. Gareth Ellis’s much-awaited comeback from a broken toe has been pushed back to Round 20.

A big boost for the Panthers, with Michael Jennings, Tim Grant and Luke Lewis all returning from Origin duty, while Luke Walsh and Sam McKendry return from injury. Etu Uaisele, Arana Taumata, Chris Armit have all been dropped, while Blake Austin (shoulder), Clint Newton (knee) and Michael Gordon (broken ankle) are all unavailable through injury.

FORM: The Tigers’ seven-game winning streak seems like an age ago, with the merged club going winless in their past three outings. Without some key personal last Friday night, they were not expected to mount much of a challenge against the high-flying Bulldogs, but they were in the contest for almost the entire 80 minutes which must have pleased coach Tim Sheens. The loss saw them slip out of the top eight on for-and-against.

The Panthers will be going nowhere near the finals in 2012. They have been awful on the field and the signs are not great off it, with former skipper Luke Lewis confirming he will leave at the end of the season.
